FWIW the synthetic diff fluid completely rectified the harmonic vibration I had from the rear end in the cold on the highway. For trans and diffs, I just use Napa brand. ATF fluid for trans and T-case and 80-90w gear oil in the diffs. I think the manual may suggest 75-90w for some temps. My 21 Tacoma rear diff went out at 8k so I decided to change my 4Runner as a precaution. My question is should I wait until 50k to change the transfer case and front diff since I hardly put it in 4 wheel ... , Change that diff oil. Changed the rear differential oil at 45K, it had a good amount of shavings, which is normal for an initial fluid change. I changed the transfer case oil as well, visually it looked great. Just remember, Toyota specs a straight 75 Winter transfer case oil, it costs ~$40/L and 1.1L is required.
