The reason the manufacturer went to an electric pump was because of fuel injection. The mechanical pump is easy to change if it fails, which it seldom does.

The rubber fuel line from the tank to the hard line on the frame is leaking on my YJ. It is a 93 and i was wondering if anybody knows the size of the 2 lines (feed-return) and if i need any special tools or if they are just clamps to replace them. I have a return ..., To mitigate the fuel siphon effect, some of us have installed an aftermarket one way valve between the fuel filter and the metal return line. The metal ones are supposed to be more durable than the plastic ones. Pic 1 is a pair of plastic valves. Pic 2 shows an improper fuel filter install. The overflow outlet goes at 12:00 O'Clock., stimpy. You can either drop the tank or make a clever access hole. Just don't blow yourself up. When you fix the lines be sure and use fuel injection line not regular rubber hose. And use fuel injection hose clamps, the regular clamps like to dig into the hose and weaken it.
