You may be able to get around this issue by pushing the L+R buttons on the second player controller only (or the last player controller if doing more than 2 players) when the game boots up. At least, this works on Ryujinx. If I remember right, this worked around the controller applet issue for some reason.

Once I unchecked the update from loading so I was just playing SMO 1.0 it went a lot better. I also had some crashing because of the "disable dynamic resolution" mod. When I disabled that, and being on 1.0, I never had another crash.
